Like the others dance or culture, Kuda Kepang also has their roles.
In kuda kepang they have bapak, danyang and badal and the dancers itself. As for the old man or
bapak(father) his roles is to circambulances the space, tracing an invisible border with his cord.
And assisted by a trio of badal (guardians), he bestows the blessings on a row of young dancers and their woven rattan stallions.n The arena is now consecrated and the dance may begin.
A group of horsemen, led by danyang (horse herder), dance in formation to the steadily rising rythms of the gong, kenong and gendang. Interlacing through the dancers, the danyang at times closes in to whisper commands to each of them. The unfolding of the dance is punctuated by the sharp cracking of the whips.
After all, the dancers all were control by danyang.
